I started this lesson with a bang, more accurately a pop. I had my teaching partner surprise the class by popping a balloon. This was an introduction into talking about how our body responds to stress.
As we discussed how we felt about the balloon popping, I noticed that the students weren’t exactly getting where I was trying to go with the discussion. I switched tactics and talked about a section in a story the class had just read that had a very vivid description of the main characters physical response to the stress of losing her little sister. We then got on the right track with the discussion. We moved on to reading Stressed Out by Michelle Prather.
We ended our story reading by parking our main learning on a sticky note in our parking lot. I blogged about our chat here.
This is the evaluation from the lesson.
